I have a lot of travel coming up suddenly. My dad and I are going to Houston next week so I can receive some PIR® treatments that I keep talking about to see how the insulin affects my brain’s healing and reconnecting process. Basically a science experiment. If I can derive benefits from the treatments, despite not being diabetic, my individualized care plan will likely include treatments every 6 weeks indefinitely. There’s a lot up in the air right now, but if we can study the effects of the treatment on my brain to further the bounds of science, that’s so cool!! Along my brain injury journey, I have always been “studied” whether it was my suggestion to the doctor or the doctor/practitioner’s suggestion to me. This is because my ‘case’ is an anomoly in the medical community. That’s not to say there’s not other people like me with similar stories, but we certainly don’t come around very often.
My AVM resection OR (operating room) gallery and room were packed full because my AVM was massive and super deep in my brain, so I think it’s great that people learned from it. Then I had an angiogram last year, and I suggested he bring his students to come watch to see my brain after the kind of injury I had. Then, when you think about the Capstone project I studied at CTN with a PhD OT student, the IpsiHand clinical trial, and the possibility of getting published for these PIR® treatments, it makes me want to write my own piece of literature. I fully intend on writing a book at some point when I do something of more substance with my life. I feel as though I need more life experience before I start giving advice.
Then, in June, I’ll be going back to Houston for the annual Well Cell® Conference!! I love Houston; it’s such a fun city, and I love hanging out with my Anniegram while I’m there.
My left hand is learning how to do so much stuff, she’s so smart. Her pronouns have also changed from he/him to she/her as she becomes more cooperative, lol. I love teaching her how to do things, it’s a major source of joy for me now rather than frustration. GROWTH!!!
And then, in July, my best friend Hannah and I just booked a national park tour to go see our other best friend, Sydney, in Yellowstone while she does an internship-type job there for a few months. Hannah and I are going to various fun little AirBnbs and national parks through Nebraska, South Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, Kansas, and finally home. I’m really excited for this trip. My sister is on a similar trip with her boyfriend right now for their spring break, which is super fun. I’m really excited for the next couple of months!! Stay tuned ☻MK
